G.RAU has been researching and developing shape memory alloys and their applications for more than 40 years. We can rightly call ourselves the experts in this field, since we combine all manufacturing processes in-house, from the melt to wire production and complex parts. In addition to the nickel-titanium alloys that are mainly used, we also use other special materials and are constantly expanding our delivery program.

Elements with a one-way effect change shape when heated. In contrast, two-way effect elements assume a high-temperature form when heated and a low-temperature form when cooled. Another design are elements or assemblies that are based on the one-way effect and counterforce. This reversible change in shape enables an economical, self-sufficient solution with the help of an external counterforce.

G.RAU manufactures spiral springs, compression, tension, bending or torsion elements as well as clamping, sealing and wire formed parts. The working temperatures of our shape memory elements are - 20°C to + 95°C, depending on the alloy and application. The working temperatures should be increased, especially upwards, through continuous further developments.
