  • About us :

Today's shoe factory VÖLKL was founded in 1926 by Franz-Xaver VÖLKL in the small village of Alterbach. In the one-man business, wooden shoes with leather uppers were made, which were mainly worn for stable and farm work. Due to increasing demand and little expansion opportunities, the VÖLKL shoe factory moved to a farm in Allershausen in 1936 and fundamentally modernized production. After the expansion of the company stalled during the war due to a shortage of materials, Franz Xaver Völkl was able to expand his Schufabrik into an industrialized company with 24 employees until the company was handed over to his son in 1967. In the meantime, leather shoes in double-stitched design, Haferl shoes, mountain boots and leather ski boots have been part of the range. Athletes from skiing, mountain sports and rifle sports valued Völkl products especially for their quality and comfort. For many years, the VÖLKL company was a recognized partner for German athletes and Olympic teams, as the award as "official supplier of the German Olympic team Grenoble 1968" and numerous other historical documents attest.
Due to his long, serious illness, Franz-Xaver VÖLKL Junior and his relatives made the decision to sell his company to B. Stumpp & S. Baier GmbH, Heidenau (Saxony). He died on December 20, 1999 with his family, one day before the planned certification of the company handover.
