    Franz Hermle founded the watch factory Franz Hermle & Sohn in Gosheim in 1922. As early as 1930, the company was considered one of the most modern in the Swabian Alb. Hermle Mechanische Uhrwerke & Drehteile GmbH in Reichenbach am Heuberg (Mühlstr. 3; 78564 Reichenbach) acts as a supplier of parts for mechanical clockworks. Hermle has had another production facility since 1977 in Amherst, Virginia USA, as the starting point for the North American market. On May 19, 2009, the bankruptcy proceedings for the assets of Hermle Uhrenmanufaktur GmbH were opened at the district court of Rottweil.
