Peter Ostermeier and Andreas Schell have been on the market with electrail GmbH since 2011. It all started with an observation from Peter: Both parents of a neighboring family were enthusiastic cyclists and had bought a bicycle trailer after starting a family. At Ammersee, home of electrail, it is sometimes a bit hilly. Despite their fitness, both of them had to struggle a lot - especially on the daily journey from the day nursery down in town to home on the hill. In the end, the family would have needed three pedelecs so that grandpa can still fetch the children from kindergarten - and at that moment, Peter “clicked”. The solution to the problem was to build the drive into the trailer instead of the bike. The enthusiastic designer quickly realized that such an approach has other advantages: a trailer can be used by several bicycles, as long as they only have the necessary coupling - that's easy. Above all, it allows the cyclist to continue riding his sometimes expensive bike solo without having to buy an additional pedelec or even an eCargobike or convert anything.
