In 1904 Albert Klenk founded the sawmill, which was taken over by Eugen and Hermann Klenk in 1946 at the age of 17 and 15. In 1960 the company began manufacturing formwork panels for the construction industry. In 1972 Klenk put a third gang saw into operation and the production of three-layer panels began. With the construction of a machining plant in 1975, the frame saw was partially replaced. In 1985 the first profiling lines were installed. Waste from the debarking of round wood has been recycled in a fully automatic bark incinerator since 1976; In 1994 a combined heat and power plant was installed. In 1982 Klenk took over the Gaildorf plant. The company grew through further takeovers: In 1996, Klenk took over Arbor Holz in Baruth / Mark, the hiwo subsidiary took over the Waldburg-Wolfegg sawmill in Wolfegg in 2000 and became the majority owner of TTW Waldpflege in 2001. In 2002 Klenk started up a new heavy timber sawmill in Volgelsheim, which was expanded into a profiling plant in 2007.
