About us :
Progress-Werk Oberkirch AG (PWO for short), based in Oberkirch (Baden), is a partner to the global automotive industry in the development and manufacture of metal components and subsystems in lightweight construction. In the course of its more than 100-year history, the group has built up extensive know-how in the forming and joining of metals. All of the group's more than 1,000 products are designed to ensure safety and comfort in the automobile. The PWO product range comprises three major areas. In addition to safety components for airbags, seats and steering, PWO develops and produces mechanical components for electrics and electronics as well as structural components and subsystems for the body and chassis. This includes, for example, instrument panel supports. Every product solution requires a material-specific forming process. This requires the development of tools that allow the required quality and quantity of parts to be manufactured economically. Toolmaking is therefore an integral part of PWO's business structure. With its expertise in cost-optimized lightweight construction, PWO contributes to environmentally friendly driving and greater range. More than 90 percent of sales are independent of the type of vehicle drive. PWO also supplies components to manufacturers of electric cars. To supply its customers worldwide, PWO relies on a combination of production and assembly locations. In Europe, the group is represented with two production sites in Oberkirch, Germany and in Valašské Meziříčí, Czech Republic, in North America with two production sites in Kitchener, Canada, and in Puebla, Mexico, and in Asia with a production site in Suzhou, China. PWO also operates assembly sites in Germany, China, Mexico and the Czech Republic. The assembly locations are separate operations of the subsidiaries in the respective countries. In toolmaking, the largest capacities of the group are located in Germany and the Czech Republic. In addition, all locations obtain tools from the Chinese subsidiary.
