  • About us :

The company is based on an experiment by Karl Hoefelmayr who succeeded in splitting microorganisms from a Camembert and reproducing them in milk. The company's founder was also the first to succeed in producing a Camembert from specially grown crops. In 1894, production was relocated from Haslach (Wangen) to Kempten, and the company became supplier to the royal Bavarian court. In 1907, the production of edelweiss milk powder began, opening up a new market for baby food. The company's founder, Karl Hoefelmayr, died on June 9, 1940; his sons took over the company. In 1962 the sons (including the son of the same name Karl Hoefelmayr) sold the company to Unilever; in the same year the Ramee Camembert was introduced. In 1974 the fresh brand Bressot was launched, which was later renamed Bresso in 1987/1988. In 1995 the brunch spread came onto the market. One year later, in 1996, the TPM was introduced, which was awarded the Award for TPM Excellence first category in 1999. In 2000, the soft cheese maturing and packing was made up of butcher's and processed cheese production Neu-Ulm integrated into the newly constructed building in Kempten. Milk sugar production was shut down in 2002. In September 2003, Unilever sold the cheese maker to Bongrain. In 2008 the factory had 520 employees producing around 41,000 tons.
