  • About us :

In the early 1980s, Heinz Elfenkämper-Raymann and Angelika Raymann lived together on the Hamfelder Hof. In the first few years they thoughtfully dealt with issues of environmental and nature protection and the ideas of the various reform movements, but in the mid-1980s they wanted to live the findings that had become convincing and put them into practice. In 1986, Heinz Elfenkämper-Raymann leased the maternal farm and immediately switched to organic farming. This decision was sealed in the same year with joining the still young Bioland Association. At that time, there was no dairy in northern Germany that was ready to process organic milk separately, let alone market it. Most of the valuable, unsubsidized Bioland milk was therefore used in conventional milk production in the dairies, which is why the Hamfelder Hof realized that, in addition to working in organic farming, there was an urgent need for action in marketing. After careful consideration and consideration, the decision was made to directly market raw milk in the only legally permitted form, namely as preferred milk. In order to meet the special hygiene regulations for the production and filling of preferred milk, investments were made in the necessary conversion measures and a used filling machine. In 1990 the Hamfelder Hof received approval for the production of premium milk, which made it possible to market it in the public sector. The preferred milk in the distinctive gable top box became so popular with consumers that almost all of the milk from the Hamfelder Hof could be sold within a very short time. But when media reports warned against the consumption of raw milk in general in the mid-1990s, sales of Hamfelder-Hof's preferred milk collapsed dramatically.
