About us :
The company Efie was founded in 1951 as a handicraft manufacturing company. The company name EFIE was composed of the first letters of the children of the actual company founder. The company was located in Krefeld until its takeover by the current owners Anja Weidner & Sacha Thüngen in 1994. With the takeover, the location also changed from Krefeld to Wuppertal. Also with the takeover, the decision, like since the company was founded, to continue to rely exclusively on Germany as a production location. The next major decision was made in 2005. From there, one began to deal more intensively with ecological materials and internalize ecological approaches and thoughts to the development of the company and the products. And so the first small collection with materials from controlled organic cultivation was created this year. This path was continuously followed in the following years and thus the number and variety of products has grown to a stately collection to this day. As a further consequent step in the field of ecological products, the company Efie switched all possible materials to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified materials. GOTS is the internationally most important and strictest seal for ecological textiles. In the course of the material changeover, the Efie company had its entire production facility tested directly according to the rules and standards of the GOTS and successfully received certification. As a result, Efie products are not only integral parts of many baby and toy shops, but are also certified by the GOTS Materials and products, from a likewise GOTS-certified, purely German manufacturing company, also established in organic shops, natural food shops, natural textile shops, natural mail order companies, farm shops and shops that value high-quality, ecological products that are not manufactured in low-wage countries such as Asia and without child labor.
