For over 500 years, the art of glass production and refinement has been cultivated and developed in Lusatia due to the rich and high quality raw materials such as sand and limestone. In 1889 the first glass was melted at the current location of Stölzle Lausitz GmbH. At the end of the 20s of the 20th century, the company became the largest producer of goblets in Germany. By the end of the 1980s, around 4,000 employees worked in the Weißwasser factories. After privatization in 1992, the Austrian company "Stölzle - Oberglas AG" took over the operation in 1996, which modernized the factory from the ground up. With its four production lines for the automatic production of high-quality, lead-free crystal glasses, Stölzle Lausitz GmbH has one of the most modern factories worldwide. The drinking glasses from this production have a straight, characteristic design language and the highest beverage fairness. They impress with their maximum breakage and dishwasher resistance, brilliance and an optimal price / performance ratio. As one of the few glass manufacturers in Weißwasser, they have mastered the process of producing glass stem and goblet on the machine in 'one piece'. These goblets are hardly inferior to hand-blown glasses in their appearance. The tangible transition between stem and goblet, which is otherwise common for machine glasses, is no longer to be found in glasses manufactured by Stölzle Lausitz using this process. Seams are also a thing of the past on these glasses. One of the goals of Stölzle Lausitz GmbH is to provide the right glass for every drink. In addition to a wide range of products, Stölzle Lausitz GmbH also has a powerful decoration department. Depending on the customer's wishes, the glasses can be provided with screen printing, cut, decal, gold or platinum rim. The company currently employs around 350 people. Up to 40 million glasses are manufactured annually at Stölzle Lausitz and sold all over the world. The company's export quota is around 70 percent. In addition to the trade channels towards end consumers, as well as the hotel, catering and beverage industry (mainly wine and spirits manufacturers), various airlines are also supplied with drinking glasses, for example.
