About us :
After completing her product design studies in 2008 at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg, Silke Decker founded her own studio. Since then she has been working independently for various companies such as Kähler Design, Rosenthal AG, WMF or Berendsohn AG. The multiple award-winning artist, who recently won the German Design Awards 2018, offers in her current collection not only classic porcelain objects but also articles in one of her self-developed technique, the so-called cord porcelain. Wool threads are dipped in cast porcelain and laid out individually to form braids. The threads burn in the oven and leave behind the pure porcelain. But the structure of the cord is retained and gives the "cord porcelain" its identity. Although the objects appear particularly filigree thanks to this specially developed technology, they are stable and suitable for everyday use despite their lightness. Vases, tealight holders or Christmas tree decorations can be used just like conventional porcelain objects.
