  • About us :

The company Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik GmbH (HBM) was founded in 1950 by Karl Hottinger (1911–1994). HBM is one of the innovation and world market leaders in testing, measuring and weighing technology. The company is owned by Spectris, a group of several specialist companies in the measurement technology segment, listed on the London Stock Exchange. HBM has 1,800 employees in Darmstadt (headquarters), Marlborough (USA), Suzhou (China) and Porto (Portugal) (as of 2017) .) HBM is active in the areas of measuring amplifiers for the research industry, strain gauges, sensors and transducers, load cells as well as evaluation and analysis software. These products are mainly used for data acquisition, experimental voltage analysis, calibration services and process monitoring of torque measurement technology. Some products, such as load cells and strain gauges, are sold as OEM products to the processing industry. In 2008, HBM took over the company nCode Based in the USA and Great Britain. nCode develops software solutions for virtual testing and fatigue testing. With nCode, HBM also took over the US manufacturer SoMat for particularly robust measurement data acquisition systems. In 2009, HBM took over the measurement data acquisition business of LDS, based in Royston (UK) and Middleton (USA). Their products are now marketed under the name Genesis HighSpeed. In 2014, HBM took over the Portuguese company FiberSensing, SA, and thus has its own production and development center for fiber Bragg sensors. In January 2015, the American company ReliaSoft was taken over , a provider of software for reliability analysis. With a new building for production and logistics areas that creates 6000 m² of usable space, HBM invested a double-digit million amount in its Darmstadt headquarters. The foundation stone for the new building was laid on August 3, 2016, and the move took place in early 2018.
