As early as 1964, the engineer and igus founder Günter Blase had the idea of developing products for movement from low-wear high-performance polymers. They are called motion plastics today. From an environmental point of view, motion plastics are products that improve. This is where plastics were created that have a good ecological balance. 50% less petroleum is used in production than similar products made of steel and 70% less than aluminum. With 54.4 billion tons of lubricant released into the environment every year, lubricant-free plastics from igus make a further contribution to protecting the environment.
