The company has been family-owned for four generations. The bakery was founded in 1890 by Georg Ihle in Friedberg. His son Willi Ihle moved it to Dasing in the 1930s. Under Willi Ihle II, the company finally grew into a large regional delivery baker from 1964, and its headquarters have been back in Friedberg since 1980. Since then, branches have been established in other locations for the first time. In June 2017, it became known that hygiene deficiencies had been found in the company in 2014 and 2015. The large bakery responded to the hygiene deficiencies in Friedberg and responded with extensive changes. According to Ihle, the older production halls were renovated, the cleaning staff significantly increased and 4.4 million euros invested in production. Since 2016 there have been “only minor or no defects” in production according to the company's own statements.
