    The Piasten company was founded in 1923 in Brzeg in Silesia. After the Second World War, Anton Hofmann initiated a new start in production in Forchheim, Upper Franconia. From 1948 onwards, chocolate could be regularly produced there, and Cadbury Schweppes joined the company in 1992. In 1998 Piasten took over the distribution of Cadbury products in Germany. At the beginning of 2003, Piasten opened the Café Piasten on Apothekenstrasse in Forchheim, selling chocolates. The café closed a few months later. From 2005 Piasten was independent again through a management buy-out; the sales cooperation with Cadbury was retained. In autumn 2014, Piasten was taken over by Katjes International.
