    Varta is a traditional German battery company based in Ellwangen, Baden-Württemberg. VARTA is also the brand name for goods that are manufactured or sold by companies that currently or previously belonged to the group. This includes, for example, accumulators and batteries. Varta AG consists of the three subsidiaries Varta Microbattery, VARTA Consumer Batteries GmbH & Co. KGaA and Varta Storage GmbH. The brand name is used in the annual Varta hotel and restaurant guide. The Swiss industrial group Montana Tech Components is a major shareholder in Varta (holds 57 , 87% of the shares as of December 2, 2020). In addition to an approximately five percent stake in Goldman Sachs, the remaining 37.09% of the shares are in free float.
