The company was founded in 1878 as a carriage forge by Johann Georg Doll and today employs around 300 people with a training quota of 10 percent at the Oppenau location. The medium-sized company is divided into several business areas: timber transport, heavy transport, airfield vehicles and special lifting vehicles. Another mainstay of Doll are government vehicles: These include above all military trailers and bodies, such as semi-trailers for heavy-duty transporters of the German armed forces and armies in other countries. The export activities with the focus markets Africa and Asia have always been of great importance for the company's development . The various contacts in these regions resulted in the Doll sales offices in Algeria and Singapore as well as a joint venture with the company CTV in Thailand. Furthermore, the company has sales and service partners in numerous countries. In 2009, Doll opened a new production facility in Mildenau with the commissioning of Doll Sachsen, in which part of the Doll product range is manufactured and mainly sold in Eastern Europe.
