  • About us :

Sausage and meat production in Britz has its roots in the history of the former GDR. Founded as the most modern processing plant in Europe (Eberswalde Slaughter and Processing Combine (SVKE)), the entire capital region (east and west) was supplied with sausage products and meat. In 1977, on the 65 hectare site, a state-of-the-art production facility was built, which covered all sub-areas for processing and production. Around 3000 people found work in the SVKE at that time. The company collapsed with the end of what was then the GDR in 1989. After several changes of ownership, the company went bankrupt in 2000. Despite the highly competitive environment, an approach to successful restructuring was developed during the insolvency phase. In charge of this was Dr.-Ing. Eckhard Krone, who took over the company as an entrepreneur in 2002. Since 2002 the company has operated as EFG Eberswalder Fleisch GmbH and EWG Eberswalder Wurst GmbH. The Eberswalder Group is currently one of the largest companies in the food industry in Berlin / Brandenburg and has a turnover of around 115 million euros. The company employs more than 500 full-time employees. In the industry ranking for meat and sausage processing, the company is among the top 100 in Germany. In 2016, Dr.-Ing. Eckhard Krone set the course for the Eberswalder Group for the future. His son Mario Krone, his daughter Katja Kühn, née Krone, and son-in-law Sebastian Kühn have joined the Eberswalder Group as new shareholders.
