    Gütermann GmbH (external presence A&E Gütermann), based in Gutach im Breisgau in southern Baden, is a traditional sewing thread manufacturer that operates worldwide. The company was founded by Max Gütermann in 1864 and was once the largest sewing silk factory in the world. Today, the company is part of the US Elevate Textiles, Inc. The operative business is divided into the Consumer and Industry divisions. In the Industry division, A&E Gütermann is the sewing thread specialist. Individual apparel and non-apparel solutions are developed together with customers. In the Consumer division, A&E Gütermann focuses on the end consumer with its sewing threads and complementary products such as beads, fabrics and various haberdashery items.
