    J. Schmalz GmbH was founded in 1910 as a razor blade factory in Glatten in the Black Forest. Over the years, the production program has changed from razor blades and transport devices to vacuum components, vacuum handling systems, vacuum gripping systems and clamping systems. The company is the market leader in automation with vacuum and ergonomic handling systems and employs more than 1,500 people ( Status: 2019). The sales network includes 20 foreign companies in Australia, China, Finland, France, India, Italy, Japan, Canada, Korea, the Netherlands, Mexico, Austria, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, the USA and England. With retroactive effect from January 1, 2017, the company also took over all shares in "GPS Gesellschaft für Produktionssysteme GmbH" in Stuttgart.
    J. Schmalz GmbH is a member of the trade association for industrial companies in Baden.
