Original and genuine since 1862
The original art of cheese making: That is what makes the Lustenberger 1862 so unmistakable in character. It all started more than 150 years ago in Entlebuch: With a lot of passion and a pioneering spirit, company founder Maurice Lustenberger perfected 100 percent natural cheese making.
A passion shaped by the summer months with his grandparents on Alp Thörli in Entlebuch, inspired by fresh country air, mountain meadows and cows - then as now the defining taste elements of his cheese. We still produce our original Lustenberger 1862 according to an old recipe from the best raw milk from cows that only eat fresh herbs and hay. Traditionally handcrafted, the loaves mature under the loving supervision of our Maîtres Affineurs for 180 days in the family cellar into an unmistakably fruity and spicy cheese - as original and genuine as Switzerland itself.
