Tabular alumina is sintered calcined alumia. This high temperature process enables the alpha alumina crystals to grow into large grains, of a form resembling tablets, hence “tabular” alumina.
Application
Tabular alumina is widely used in refractory materials. It provides high temperature resistance, thermal and chemical stability, abrasion resistance, high mechanical strength and excellent shock resistance. Tabular alumina is also often used for ceramics as filters for molten metal, fillers for epoxy resins and polyester, inert catalyst supports and heat conductors.
