Plenum boxes are equipment that are produced using different thicknesses of galvanized sheet and are installed behind linear valves. In fact, the plenums play the role of an intermediary between the main line of the air channel and the linear valves. The main feature of this tool is to create a homogeneous and equal pressure along the entire length of the valve so that the same amount of air is released from all points along the length of the linear valve and the air output speed is the same along the entire length of the linear valve.
Usually, plenums are placed together in one-meter pieces along the desired line to install a linear valve, and the valve is installed on them integrally up to the length that can be produced. Another advantage of using this product is the ability to install linear valves without using screws, which greatly contributes to the final beauty.
The opening dimensions of plenum boxes are selected according to the dimensions behind the linear slot valve. The number and dimensions of the air inlet collar are also designed according to the volume of air passing through the plenum and the ventilation design of the linear valves. In situations where there is a possibility of condensation and transpiration of air humidity on the surface of the plenum, thermal insulation should be used in the plenum boxes.
Insulation and plenum box installation
In our complex, different insulations are used to insulate the plenum box, such as polyurethane insulations, elastomeric foams, metallized foams, etc. The most likely place to cause distillation is the face facing the air intake, but only insulating this face is not enough because according to the temperature of the ventilated air and the temperature under the ceiling (where the plenum is installed), there is a possibility of distillation on all faces of the plenum. Therefore, the insulation work is done in full in the plenum box. Plenum insulation is usually insulated from the roof by coated insulation (so that the insulation does not come into contact with the passing air). Due to the limitation of the thickness of the insulation installed inside the plenum, in areas where the air humidity is very high, insulation is done on it.
It is worth noting that plenum boxes can be installed in different ways, such as installation on a metal chassis, installation on a dry false ceiling structure (Kenaf, etc.) and installation by supporting the ceiling (earrings for connecting support rods can be installed at the factory).
