The packaged air conditioning units or the rooftop package is a combination of condensing unit and air handling unit in an integrated way, which complete air conditioning includes temperature control of the air entering the environment (both cooling and heating), humidity control, and air filtering. It does in one integrated unit, and therefore it is considered the most complete air conditioning device, and because it is usually installed on the roof, it is called a rooftop.
In the chiller and air conditioner system, the chiller device is responsible for cooling the water and pumping it to the chilled water coil of the air handler, but in this device, the refrigerant is directly transferred to the coil of the air conditioner and causes the temperature of the air passing through the surface of the coils to decrease. With this method, efficiency also increases. The coils that cool the air directly with refrigerant are called DX coils. The coil (heat exchanger) of the spa is used for heating. In the winter season, by heating the water in the engine room or the package and pumping it into the hot water coils embedded in the package unit device and at the same time with the air being blown by the fan from around the coils, the air is heated and ducted throughout the building.
Advantages of the unit package:
One of the advantages of the package unit is the removal of piping between the chiller and the air conditioner, as well as the fact that there is no need for a water circuit in the cooling mode, and the chiller evaporator is directly embedded in the air conditioner part of the unit package. In this way, in addition to eliminating the waste of thermal energy from the piping between the chiller and the air conditioner, the intermediate fluid of water in the cooling mode is also eliminated, and there will be no need for piping and insulation. By reducing heat loss, a device with a lower capacity is needed to provide the desired temperature, and the price of devices with a lower capacity will be cheaper. In addition, the chiller evaporator is usually of the shell and tube type (shell and tube), which has a high price due to the use of a large number of copper tubes in it. It is heated and has a major impact on its lower price compared to the total price of a chiller and air conditioner.
