BANDS MADE OF CONTACT BIMETAL

A CONTACT BIMETAL IS A LAYERING COMPOSITE MATERIAL THAT COMBINES THE ADVANTAGEOUS PROPERTIES OF AN INexpensive CARRIER MATERIAL WITH THE SPECIAL CONTACT PROPERTIES OF A PRECIOUS METAL OR A PRECIOUS METAL ALLOY.

The primary requirement for contact materials is good switching properties and is therefore largely responsible for the selection of the precious metal or precious metal alloy. The carrier materials to be used are characterized by good thermal conductivity and high electrical conductivity. Good strength and spring properties as well as the best technological properties such as solderability and weldability are advantageous.

At G.RAU, contact bimetal strips are manufactured by hot and cold plating, soldering or roller seam welding. The selection of the manufacturing process depends on the properties and dimensions you require and the associated material combinations. We mainly use copper and copper alloys, nickel and nickel alloys and various types of stainless steel as carrier material. On request, we can also supply the strips with a galvanic coating.

When selecting the materials suitable for your application, we are at your disposal and will advise you on all technical questions.
