Dophaprim (WSP)

Category: Antibiotic

Dosage Form: Water Soluble Water

Composition:
Each gram of Dophaprim® contains 400 mg Sulfadiazine and 80 mg Trimethoprim.

Mechanism of action:
Dophaprim® is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial from the potentiated sulfonamide class of chemotherapeutic agents. These two drugs block different sequential steps in the biosynthesis of nucleic acids. Sulfadiazine inhibits bacterial synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by competing with para-aminobenzoic acid. Trimethoprim blocks the production of tetrahydrofolic acid from dihydrofolic acid by reversibly inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase. The effect of the dual action is to reduce the minimum inhibitory concentration of each agent (synergism) and to convert a bacteriostatic action to a bactericidal action.

Target Species:
Poultry (Broiler, Breeder)

Indications:

Dophaprim® is effective against primary and secondary bacterial infections caused by bacteria which are susceptible to trimethoprim and sulphadiazine like respiratory infections, intestinal infections, urogenital infections, skin infections and coccidiosis in poultry.
Enteritis caused by Salmonella, secondary infections like Actinobaccilus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis and Streptococcus.

Dosage and Administration:
200-400 mg per 1000 liter of drinking water or 30-60 mg/kg body weight for 3-5 days.
Recommended remove silica gel after opening lid of bottle and solve content of bottle in 50 liters of drinking water, then transfer to main tank.

Interactions:

ü Should not be used with nephrotoxic drugs.

ü Oxytetracycline should not be used to laying hens the eggs of which are intended for human consumption.

Withdrawal period:
Broilers: 5 days before slaughtering.

Precautions:
Medicated water should be used within 24 hours.

Storage:
Keep in dry and cool place (below 25 °C) and protect from light and freezing.
