FRP / GRP connectors

The FRP bars are similar in appearance to conventional bars, but are made of high strength glass fiber reinforced steel with a type of polymer resin instead of steel. FRP composite bars are used as a suitable replacement for steel bars in many concrete structures.
FRP composite bars or fittings (FRP reinforcement) are non-electric and non-magnetic and are resistant to corrosion. Using FRP composite bars (FRP reinforcement) can prevent electromagnetic interference and corrosion problems of steel. In addition, the high tensile strength of FRP composite bars (FRP reinforcement) makes them a good alternative for use in concrete tensile sections.
Construction steel is briefly protected against corrosion by alkaline concrete and usually results in structural serviceability.
For many structures that are exposed to frozen salts in aggressive environments such as offshore structures, bridges, parking lots, humidification, temperature rise and chloride environment reduce the alkali of the concrete and cause corrosion of the steel in Ultimately, it destroys the concrete structure. For this reason, these structures are used today with rebar made with FRP polymer materials. Because the FRP bars have a non-deformable behavior, the use of these bars is restricted to structures whose main problem is corrosion or electromagnetic properties of steel.
The mechanical behavior of FRP bars differs from that of steel bars; therefore, the design of concrete structures using FRP bars has been varied with respect to steel bars. Steel bars have almost isotropic behavior but FRP bars have anisotropic behavior.
This anisotropic behavior affects the shear strength and adhesion behavior of FRP bars to concrete. FRP materials, unlike steel materials, exhibit linear elastic behavior.
