Cranberries are known as native fruits in most parts of Europe and Southwest Asia. This fruit is similar to cherry, with the difference that it is more acidic and provides more nutritional benefits to humans. Cranberry has always been popular with the Persian Empire and the Roman Empire and was brought to Greece around the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea about 300 BC. There are some special flavonoids in the name of anthocyanin in cherries, which give both red and dark color to the fruit and also produce its potent antioxidant properties. This powerful ingredient acts as an anti-inflammatory drug, and is therefore useful for people with chronic conditions, including gout, severe muscle pain, and sports injuries. Antioxidant compounds in cherry and water help the body to cope with cancers, aging, neurological diseases and anti-diabetes disease. In addition, cherry contains melatonin, so it relieves irritability of the nervous system and plays an effective role in relieving insomnia and headache. It also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, given its successful performance in dealing with free radicals.
Excessive consumption of cranberry juice can cause dullness and diarrhea. Pregnant and lactating women are also advised not to overestimate the consumption of cherries and juices, and if they have particular conditions, consult their physician for use.
How much and when should we eat?
Cherry and juice of this fruit is a bit acidic and it is not recommended for fasting. It is best to drink a maximum of 300 ml of cranberry juice a day and about one to two hours after eating the main meals. Drinking a glass of cherry juice with a little honey, about an hour before bed can give you a more relaxed sleep.
