Prior to concreting, steel bars should be fastened together according to design and calculation to prevent them from moving during the concreting operation to prevent the concrete from catching. To fasten the two rebars together, they mostly use reinforcing wire and soft metal formwork with a diameter of 1.5 mm, which is called knotting.
Common types of knots for reinforcing wires to fasten two rebars together:
1- Simple knot (slider): Simple knot is the most common knot for connecting main and secondary rebars (assembly) in horizontal networks such as roof and foundation with the possibility of fast execution.
2- Cross knot: In cases where the number of connection points is low due to the use of thick rebars, this knot is used to strengthen the connection of rebars to each other.
3- Back neck knot: In columns and beams, this type of knot is often used to firmly connect the rebars to the bolts in the corners.
4- Friction joint: In connecting the rebars in the nets and vertical plates (network of concrete walls), this type of knot is used to prevent the sliding of the horizontal rebars.
