Cyphotilapia frontosa

African and large frontosa cichlid with the scientific name Cyphotilapia frontosa is native to the depths of about 50 meters of Lake Tanganyika. The prefix of its name means "humpback fish". Because Frantoza lives in deep water, catching it alive requires gradual decompression to avoid fish death. The life of this fish in nature is about 25 years, the body length of males reaches 35 and females 30 centimeters.

Conditions for keeping in the aquarium:

Keeping this fish is not recommended for novice aquarists. Frantoza cichlid needs a lot of oxygenation in the aquarium and about 300 liters of aquarium space is needed for each fish. A population of 4 of this fish is suitable for an aquarium. It is better to use strong portable filters for their aquarium due to the sensitivity of this fish to water parameters. Its proper storage temperature is 25 to 28 degrees Celsius and pH-7.5 to 8.5. It has a calm but predatory temperament and will hunt species that fit in its mouth. Sometimes it also engages in night activities and hunting. Due to their deep nature, they do not need much light in the aquarium. They need clean and clear water with frequent renewal.

Nutrition:

They like food with high protein and preferably live; Earthworm, shrimp, artemia, small fish. Frantoza can be fed with prepared fish feed (as side feed) and cow heart and liver. But don't give them blood worms; Because it may lead to an infection of their intestines, followed by movement disorders and even floating of the fish on the surface of the water.

Frantoza's feed quality should be high and since they tend to overeat and store a lot of fat, it is better to starve them one day a week.
