Phosphorus

The main part of phosphorus in the human body (80-85%) is concentrated in the bones. The remaining phosphorus in the body is mainly in the form of inorganic phosphate. There is an opposite ratio between calcium and phosphorus in the human body, in such a way that an increase in one component causes a decrease in the other. An increase in serum phosphorus can be caused by an increase in vitamin D to a toxic level, parathyroid gland hypofunction, kidney disorder, and a decrease in serum phosphorus due to vitamin D deficiency and parathyroid hyperfunction.
