Triglyceride

Triglycerides make up 95% of stored fat in tissue and their main role is to provide energy for cells. Triglycerides are made in two ways from food fat in the intestines and food carbohydrates in the liver, then they are transported in the blood by chylomicrons and VLDL. A high level of triglycerides is associated with the risk of atherosclerosis and can be caused by various diseases related to fat metabolism disorders, such as increased blood lipoproteins, lack of lipase enzyme activity, lack of apolipoprotein c-II, as well as diabetes and kidney and endocrine disorders.
