Conical cooling tower sprinkler head

One of the components of the conical cooling tower is the sprinkler head. The sprinkler head consists of two main parts.

The fixed part of the sprinkler to which the water inlet of the cooling tower is connected and is restrained from the upper part by the tow wire.
The moving or rotating part of the sprinkler, which rotates due to the passage of water and the resulting centrifugal force, and causes the movement of the pipes exiting the sprinkler. The rotary section has 4 to 8 outlets and a pipe is connected to each outlet. Pipes and fittings begin to rotate as the sprinkler rotates. Lantern nozzles are installed on the pipes and at equal intervals. The water is distributed on the cooling surfaces from the rotating nozzles at a certain angle.

The sprinkler head is produced from a size of 2 inches with 4 outlets of 1 inch to a size of 12 inches with 8 outlets of 4 inches. The connection of the sprinkler head to the water circulation pipes is done in two ways: threaded and simple (barbed or adhesive). In the threaded model, Teflon tape is used for sealing.

In conical towers, due to the fact that the sprinkler head starts to circulate with the inlet pressure of the water line, so the water pressure in the conical cooling tower is higher than that of the cubic cooling tower, and in most designs, the pressure at the sprinkler inlet point is about 2 It is designed 2.5 times.

The sprinkler head is usually made of ABS, aluminum, cast iron and brass. Each of the mentioned materials has certain advantages and disadvantages. But generally, aluminum is used for the production of sprinkler heads due to easier turning, lightness, better adjustment and balance, resistance to rust and less sedimentation.
