HIPS resistant polystyrene

High impact polystyrene (HIPS) is a rigid plastic material with high impact resistance that is easily drilled, chipped or sawn. This material is available in different colors. If you are looking for a special colored plastic that has good impact resistance, HIPS will be your first choice. Due to the fact that polystyrene can be heated, various shapes and objects can be produced from this material.

This type of PS is typically produced by adding about 5-10% rubber copolymer or butadiene. which increases its hardness and resistance and becomes a very rigid and ideal product for packaging applications.

High strength HIPS resistant polystyrene, good molding along with the ability to be reprocessed with dimensional and temperature stability, colorability, adhesion and printability have made HIPS resin one of the 5 main resins in electrical applications, building compounds and general goods. There are many other uses.

HIPS is a hard and low-cost plastic that is easily heated and remade and also has various properties like PE, PP, etc. resins.
Applications of resistant polystyrene

HIPS resistant polystyrene is used to produce disposable containers, electronic devices, clock bodies, televisions, radios, sports equipment, cold insulation in refrigerators, freezers and household appliances.

Inside refrigerators and freezers, the first layer of cold resistance is often made of HIPS. This material is also widely used in making toys, packaging, etc.

Another application of HIPS is in 3D printers where it is used as a washable part.

In addition to cold resistance, one of the special features of HIPS is the antibacterial property on the surface.

The rigid nature of this material makes it suitable for food packaging. Also, this material is suitable for packing fatty foods such as butter. This material can be used in food packaging applications with low heat, but is not recommended for packaging with heat above 85°C.
