Keeping water and food in itself and continuously feeding the plant
Agricultural perlite is able to absorb and store water 3 to 7 times its own weight and does not get flooded. At the same time, it increases the storage capacity of food in the soil and prevents the release of soluble food due to frequent watering.
In fact, perlite is a small storehouse in the soil that stores large amounts of water and gradually distributes water evenly to the roots of the plant and prevents it from being wasted.
Creating enough pores in the substrate for better plant breathing
The presence of porosity in perlite provides air and gas exchanges in the soil for plant roots easily, and for this reason, it improves the aeration system and thus improves the soil ventilation.
Drainage and preventing the roots from rotting
The microscopic structure of perlite particles (having multi-layered holes) is such that even when saturated with water, it maintains at least 20% of its useful porosity and prevents the roots from rotting.

Fully irrigated agricultural perlite weighs only 640 kg/m3. Fully irrigated soil has a weight of 1600 to 2000 kg/m3. The weight of the cultivation medium can be reduced by 60% by using perlite agricultural mixtures and another additive such as peat, compost or organic fertilizers.

Perlite, having a neutral pH, prevents any disturbance in the plant's roots. Also, due to the minerality of perlite and as a result its chemical composition is similar to soil, there will be no disturbance in the soil structure.
Agricultural perlite is an expanded volcanic glass. Therefore, unlike organic materials, it will not rot and will retain its positive properties for a long time in the soil.
