Pressure is one of the most important parameters used in the industry to control various processes and it is obtained by dividing the force on the surface. Considering the fact that this quantity is used in cases such as height measurement of liquid level as well as measuring the velocity of fluids and flows, it is of special importance and different equipments and means have been invented to measure it in different conditions.
The concept of pressure
The effect of force on a surface depends on how the force is applied.
A person wearing spiked sneakers. The spikes of his shoes sink into the ground while normal shoes do not damage the ground.
The noteworthy point is that in both cases the force on the surface is the same and it is the force of his weight.
The difference between these two modes is that sports shoes apply force on a small surface.
Shoe spikes do not change the amount of total force, but rather increase the force per unit area. The amount of force per unit area is also called pressure.
In mathematical language, pressure is expressed as follows:
P=F/A where P is the pressure, F is the force and A is the cross section of the force.
Skiers wear ski boots when skiing because it has a larger cross-sectional area and reduces the pressure on the surface.
Due to the very small cross-sectional area of the knife in contact with the objects (for example, the hand), due to the application of a small amount of force, the unit force (pressure) creates a larger area and causes the objects to be cut.
Usually, the materials of the pressure gauge are steel or brass, and it is widely used in the industry to regulate the pressure of tanks or to prevent the increase of pressure in pressurized environments.
