Orifice is one of the oldest methods of flow measurement. In this method, the fluid flow is passed through a channel that is smaller than the cross section of the main flow. The created pressure difference is measured by a pressure difference measuring device and the fluid flow rate is obtained using the governing relations.
In addition to the plate and flange, the meter run orifice also includes the straight pipe before and after.
Since maintaining the straight length of the pipe before the orifice is very influential in the measurement accuracy of this flowmeter, using this style of orifice will ensure accurate measurement.
Usually, this type of orifice is used for sizes less than 2 inches. But it is possible to design and manufacture this product in all sizes.
Strengths:
• Material S.S
• High temperature and pressure tolerance
• Can be used for corrosive fluids
• Low maintenance cost
• acceptable accuracy
weak points:
• Relatively high pressure drop
• Requires a lot of installation space
• The possibility of blocking the path in the presence of waste materials
