Cool Air Converters
One of the equipment used in most refineries and petrochemical plants to reduce fluid temperatures is air coolers. In air coolers, the air cools the pipes containing hot fluid at ambient temperature, reducing the wall temperature of the pipe, thereby reducing the fluid temperature inside the pipe.
Air cooling converters are usually used in the following two ways:
Forced Draft
Induced Draft
In these converters, hot vapors are distributed into a series of pipes that are horizontally aligned. The outer wall of the pipes is equipped with blades to increase the heat transfer between the fluid inside the pipes with cool air.
