The country of Iran is located in a dry climate and the supply of purified water is one of the most important concerns of the Iranian people and government. Many development projects in the country have faced serious challenges due to the lack of water resources. In this regard, private and public companies have started working in the field of water purification and desalination and have taken great steps in the field of producing water desalination devices. The efforts made have solved many of the needs of our country in this field, but at the same time, they have caused the environmental crisis of "highly salty wastewater".
Knowing about the valuable activities carried out in the country to supply purified water, Danesh Banian Taha Tome Tos has designed and launched a new generation desalination plant with the aim of purifying very salty wastewater. The basic technology of this equipment is available to a limited number of advanced research centers in advanced countries, and only a few European and Singaporean companies have started to commercialize this technology.
The young specialists of the knowledge-based company Taha Tome, in cooperation with experienced consultants of the plate heat exchanger industry, have developed this technology, which has also been registered as a patent. Physically, the structure of the desalination device is similar to the plate heat exchangers and its capacity can be increased in a modular way. Its electrical energy consumption is 30% of similar reverse osmosis systems and requires a small amount of low-temperature thermal energy (50% of the thermal energy required for evaporative thermal systems). In addition, there is no limit on the salinity concentration of the water.
By localizing this technology, it is possible to purify very salty water and the produced water is drinkable and can be used in industry and can solve the problem of drinking water in deprived areas. This water purification method is the most compatible method of water desalination with renewable energies and to provide drinking water to islanders and deprived villages along the southern coasts from sea water, to supply drinking water to areas far from the national electricity and gas lines by using very salty underground water with the use of renewable energies.
In addition to the above, considering the high need of water for industries, especially in the steel and petrochemical sector, the use of membrane distillation desalination equipment is the best option for treating very salty wastewater from water treatment units of these industries. In these industries, using the waste heat of different parts as a source of thermal energy, the energy cost of this method is very low.
