perfume (injectable)

One of the physical properties of natural gas is that this fuel product is odorless, and therefore it is necessary to make it smell by a mechanism before reaching the consumption system in order to prevent possible risks and accidents. This can be done by injecting an odorant into the natural gas stream. This process is called "scenting" or (odorizing) natural gas and is generally done by injecting a very fragrant substance called Mercaptane. In the gas industry, two methods are common for natural gas aromatization, and according to operational parameters and consumer needs, one of these two methods is chosen for the "aromatization" operation. These two methods are: perfuming the bypass system (Bypass) and perfuming the injection method (Injection). An injection perfumer injects mercaptan into the pipeline using a reciprocating pump. By receiving the flow values and parameters (the most important of which is the flow rate in working conditions), the control panel will calculate the optimal and standard injection rate of the pump and will operate it by issuing a command. Therefore, at any time, the amount of passing gas is at the same position as the injection amount, and the concentration of mercaptan in the exit gas is a constant value despite the fluctuation in the flow. Filling the main odorizer tank is done through a loading system and by applying the adjusted pressure on the tanker containing mercaptan. Since mercaptan is very toxic and will cause many complications if it leaks in the natural environment, the safety valve of this equipment is equipped with a charcoal filter to prevent such complications.
