Today, with the expansion of non-linear loads including power electronics including rectifiers, electronic controllers of motors, frequency converters and other electronic loads to compensate for the reactive power consumed in the network, harmonic pollution has increased in power systems. The presence of these harmonics in the network can cause unwanted resonances of the capacitor bank with the upstream network impedance at harmonic frequencies. In fact, a capacitor bank without a filter together with network inductances forms a resonant circuit and in the presence of harmonics with a frequency close to the resonance frequency, overvoltage and resonant currents occur. If the resonance frequency and the frequency of one of the harmonic components are equal, resonance occurs in the network. It is clear that in order to prevent such phenomena in capacitor banks that cause damage to capacitors and other equipment, the use of harmonic filters is inevitable. Detuned filters are filters whose design purpose is to show high impedance against the passage of certain harmonics. These reactors are connected in series with power factor correction capacitors to protect them against the passage of high frequency harmonics. Deion reactors are used in series with capacitor banks in power factor correction units.
