Glatiramer acetate

Pharmacy Category:
An immunosuppressive agent, a multiple sclerosis agent

Pharmacokinetics:
Based on human and animal studies, much of the injected drug is subcutaneously injected with hydrolysis at the site. Part of the prescription drug comes into the lymph system and reaches to the lymph nodes, and possibly partly intact to the systemic circulation.

The mechanism of the work:
Glutylamer acetate is a combination of synthetic polypeptides (consisting of four amino acids) that is similar to the protein of the myelin base. Research has shown that this drug is effective in reducing the severity and incidence of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (MS animal model).

Indications:
Reducing the frequency of recurrence in RRMS patients, including patients who experienced the first clinical episode of MS and those who have confirmed their MRI results for MS.

Amount and method of administration:
Usual Adult Dose: 20 mg per day subcutaneously
Pediatric Dose: The efficacy and safety of it in patients under the age of 18 years have not been confirmed.
This medicine is for subcutaneous administration only and is not to be used intravenously.

prohibited usage:
Sensitization to acetaminophen acetate and mannitol

Precautions:
Chest pain: Sometimes it may happen immediately after the injection, which is usually transient, it resolves after a few minutes and is often not associated with any other symptoms.
- Lipotrophy: may be created and not resolved in the injection area, emphasizing the patient to follow the correct injections and change the injection site every day.
Immune responses: Although there is no comprehensive assessment of the effects of glutarimer on the immune system's performance, it is likely to affect the body's immune system.
Systemic reactions: Some patients may be immediately injected, symptoms such as: anxiety, chest pain, dysphagia, flushing, palpitations, and itching may occur minutes after the injection, which are usually transient and Resolved themselves. Altogether, these symptoms may occur a few months after the start of a glutarimer injection.
- Use with caution in patients with heart problems and renal impairment.
- The patient should be monitored for hypersensitivity reactions.

Consumption during pregnancy:
Group B

Consumption during lactation:
The secretion or secretion of the drug in breast milk has not yet been determined, the necessary precautions should be taken.

side effects:
Common side effects include anxiety, joint pain, chest pain, respiratory problems, hypertonia, edema, flushing, palpitations, and injection site reactions (including bleeding, stiffness and bulge in the injection site, inflammation, pain, itching, redness, hives ), Swollen lymph nodes, neck pain, vasodilatation, nausea and rash.

Drug Interactions:
- Leflunomide: Drugs with immunosuppressive properties can increase the toxic effects or unwanted side effects of leflunomide. Particularly, the risk of side effects such as pancytopenia, agranulocytosis or thrombocytopenia may be increased. Consider the high dose of leflunomide in patients who are being treated with immune system inhibitors. Patients who receive leflunomide and immunosuppressant drugs should be monitored for bone marrow suppression at least every month.
- Natalizumab: immunosuppressive agents may increase the toxic effects or unwanted side effects of this drug, especially the chance of increasing the risk of co-infections. (Do not use glitrimer acetate while taking this medicine.)
- Pimecrolimus: Possible toxicities or unwanted effects of immunosuppressive agents. (Do not use glitrimer acetate while taking this medicine.)
- Trastuzumab: may increase the neutropenia induced by immunosuppressive agents. (Keep track of it.)
- Tacrolimus (topical): Positive or unintended effects of immunosuppressive agents may be increased. (Do not use glitrimer acetate while taking this medicine.)
- Echinacea: May reduce the therapeutic effects of immunosuppressive agents.
- Inactivated vaccines: Immune system inhibitors may reduce the therapeutic effects of deactivated vaccines. (Keep track of it.)
- Lived live vaccines: Immune system inhibitors may increase the toxic or unwanted effects of live vaccine and increase the likelihood of infection from the vaccine or may reduce the therapeutic effects of the live vaccine. Do not use live vaccine when administering an immunosuppressive agent, nor should a live vaccine be fortified for at least three months after the administration of immune system inhibitors.

packing:
28 pre-filled syringes (20 mg / ml) in four packets of seven numbers plus alcoholic beverages

How to store:
- Store at 2 to 8 ° C and away from light.
- Keep out of reach of children.
