Despite the fact that the main cooling mechanism is the same, the cooling tower performs its task in different ways, which is described in the following category:

Cooling tower with free (natural) water circulation
As its name suggests, in the cooling tower with natural air circulation, natural circulation of cold air is used for the water cooling process. Due to the difference between the density of the incoming and outgoing air, the air moves easily.
While hot and humid air, which is denser (heavier) than cool air, naturally leaves the cooling tower, cold and dry air is drawn into the tower and natural air circulation is carried out.
Cooling tower with mechanical air circulation (fake)
Unlike the cooling towers of the first category, in order to establish the air flow in this category of cooling towers, fans, ventilators or other mechanisms are used to create air circulation. The fans used in the structure of cooling towers are of Sanarifujo or propeller type. Cooling towers with mechanical air circulation have a higher order of efficiency than cooling towers with natural air circulation. This type of cooling towers can be used even inside the building if suitable ventilation is installed. Despite the higher efficiency of this type of cooling tower, this device has higher power consumption and higher maintenance costs. The cooling tower with transversal air circulation (crossing, separating), and the cooling tower with parallel air circulation (parallel, aligned) are two types of cooling towers with mechanical air circulation.
1-2- Cooling tower with transversal air circulation (cross air circulation): In this type of cooling tower, the air flows horizontally inside the cooling tower, while the hot water flows from the top and from the distribution nozzles into the water collection pan.
2-2- Cooling tower with opposite air flow (parallel, aligned): In this type of cooling tower, the air flow inside the tower is vertical from bottom to top and the water flow for cooling is established from top to bottom.
