Lorenz Wagner was a brilliant inventor and passionate shoemaker. He spent hours and days working out lasts, models and soles. The success story started with the production of Haferl shoes.

Lorenz's work laid the basis for the company's future success. For him, a product wasn't ready until it didn't fit and work perfectly. He selected the best leathers in the region for his shoes and constructed sturdy uppers and soles. The result was long-lasting and timeless quality shoes. The high quality of the "double stitching" - a type of production from the mountains - made entirely by hand, made the first expansion of the company necessary as early as the late 1920s. The first production building was built in 1930 and 1931. In addition, the foundations for further success were laid with mountain boots for mountain hunters and laced ski boots. At the same time, the future son-in-law and company heir Sepp Lederer started as an apprentice in the company.
