  • About us :

"Good knives are made by hand". According to this motto, handcrafted knives with noble wooden handles, solid wooden boards and accessories for kitchen and table have been manufactured in our company in Solingen since 1872. Then as now, talent, attention to detail and a positive attitude to craftsmanship are capitalized in our "Manufactur". But time and our understanding of knives have changed. With each of our knives today, function and style, past and future, masculine and feminine of the craft meet.
    sustainability
Our knives are durable and sustainable, they are often used over generations. The longer a product is in use and does not have to be replaced by a new product, the more resource-efficient it is. A considerable potential in terms of material and energy is saved.
    "Solingen Thin Section"
The knives of our manufacture are sharpened according to the principle of the "Solingen thin grinding" and finely peened by hand. This traditional, very slim Manufactur cut is evident in the particular sharpness and edge retention of the knives. The "edge retention" indicates how long a knife remains sharp and "sleek".
    Pließten
The "plied" is a special fine-tuning and has always been one of the most elaborate techniques of the grinding trade. It is carried out in different stages, the "Feinpließten" and the "Blueplastten". These operations are among the most elaborate techniques of the Solingen grinding trade, of which "blue pitting" represents the highest level. Such blades can be recognized by their bluish to rainbow-colored shimmer.
    Sharpness
The proverbial sharpness of our windmill knives shows itself in the so-called "acid test". With light pressure on the thumbnail or an iron ring, a small wave appears on the thinly ground cutting edge.
    Regrinding
If regrinding is necessary, even a layperson can do this quickly and easily. Because the knife can of course be brought back into shape much faster with a fine, slim bevel than a stably sharpened, industrially manufactured knife with a wide cutting angle.
    Carbon steel
As one of the last manufacturers we still produce knives made of carbon steel, the so-called "rusting" knives.
