  • About us :

The company's founder Heinrich Sauer began developing the first aircraft engines based on the
VW - four-cylinder boxer engine. From these first beginnings, state-of-the-art drives have emerged over the years, in which every component has been adapted to the special requirements of aviation. Today we use our own aluminum housings, cylinder heads, NiCaSil-coated aluminum cylinders, newly developed crankshafts with a modified stroke, our own camshafts, and specially forged aluminum pistons.
All of these innovations have the common goal of providing a full performance well below 3000 rpm with considerable weight reduction and at the same time increased stability.
Today all Sauer engines have a TBO of 1600 hours.
Since the start of certification as an aviation engine in 1987, the company has been successfully producing aircraft engines for motor gliders and light aircraft, which are used in many types of aircraft at home and abroad. With the proverbial quality, low system weight, high performance at low speeds and outstanding reliability, Sauer Flugmotorenbau has built an excellent reputation for itself with more than 750 flying motors.
Today the company Sauer-Flugmotorenbau GmbH, which has been managed by Martin Manthey since 2003 for Heinrich Sauer, who is retiring for reasons of age, consists of the following 8 business areas:
    1. Development company for aircraft engines, assemblies and add-on parts as well as for
    Repair procedure.
    2. Manufacturing company for aircraft engines, assemblies and add-on parts
    3. Repair company for piston aircraft engines, aggregates,
Conversion of drive units for motor gliders and VLA's (retrofit).
    4. Development company and manufacturer for Naturel composite propellers.
    5. Development company and manufacturer of high-performance and industrial motors.
    6. Turning and milling work on a contract basis
    7. Tool grinding
    8. Contract balancing
The latest developments include a more powerful 2100/2400 aircraft engine with altitude-compensating light charging, magneto-electronic double ignition, a new type of engine management system and a supercharged two-cylinder four-stroke engine with liquid cooling and reduction gear, as well as a two- and three-cylinder two-stroke engine with liquid cooling and inlet control. and other finesse with which we are expanding our range of services and which one can rightly look forward to.
