The cement industry in Iran has a 70-year history. Since the early 1300's, the Iranian government has taken great strides towards economic development and modernization of the country. Implementation of many infrastructure projects, including railway lines, dams, roads, educational and public places, began with the establishment of many industrial sectors. Construction of infrastructure facilities and government offices and organizations were put on the agenda of the government. In such a way, these changes originated from the transformation of the country into the modern style of today.

In this regard, the need for cement as the most important new building material was inevitable. The first cement production plant in the country was exploited in 1312 with a capacity of 100 tons per day in Rey and at Rayan Cement Company.
By 1977, the capacity of cement production in the country was about 7 million tons per year. Since the Islamic Revolution, so far, many projects have been implemented, from the pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary projects, to new projects, so that the country's cement production capacity is currently up to 52 million tons annually.
