There are two types of lentils, green lentils which are small (weight of 100 seeds 1.7 grams) and large (weight of 100 seeds 2.8 grams) and red lentils which are shelled and known as "dal". Lentils are planted in the wild and auto in Western Asia, Greece, Italy and all Mediterranean regions. Lentils are cultivated in most regions in Iran and their propagation usually takes place in early spring.
